Reactor v1.1.3+3

Get started with Reactor

Server-authoritative multiplayer for Unity, with physics simulated on the server. Install via Package Manager and run a local server in minutes.

Before you start

You need Unity (2021.3 LTS, 2022.3 LTS, or 6.x), Git, and the .NET 8 SDK installed. Unity's Package Manager uses Git to fetch the package. Without Git the install fails with the error No 'git' executable was found. The local development server runs on .NET, so it will not start without the SDK.

Install Git before opening Unity. If Unity or Unity Hub is already open, quit both after installing and reopen the project, or the Editor will not see Git.

Installed Git, and Unity still says no git executable was found?

Unity Hub reads the system PATH when it starts and hands that PATH to every Editor it launches. Git installed while Hub was already running is invisible to Unity until Hub restarts. Quit Unity and Unity Hub, including the Hub icon in the Windows system tray, then reopen the project. Restarting Windows does the same thing.

To confirm Git is on the PATH, open a new terminal and run git --version. If it prints a version, retry the install.

  1. Open Unity Package Manager

In Unity, go to Window → Package Manager, click + in the top-left corner, and select Add package from git URL…

Unity's guide: installing a package from a Git URL.

  2. Add the package URL

Paste the package URL from the top of this page (version 1.1.3+3) and click Add. Unity fetches the package and the local server downloads on first use. Reactor is free to develop locally, no account required.

  3. Run your first room

Follow the first tutorial to get a multiplayer room running.

  4. Deploy to Reactor Cloud (optional)

When you're ready to go live, sign in at console.kinematicsoup.com. The overview page creates projects under Reactor or Scene Fusion: make a Reactor one and choose your tier there.

If someone adds you to an existing project, they send an invite from the console and the email link joins you.
